The Better Block Foundation, a nonprofit that educates, equips, and empowers communities and their leaders to reshape and reactivate built environments to promote the growth of healthy and vibrant neighborhoods, reached out to me to design and paint the City of Garland’s Better Block in a Box, a customized shipping container for the community.
My goal was to create a multi-faceted engaging and lively mural that would reflect the community’s spirit. I wanted to represent the City of Garland’s color palette and their Indian Blanket flower logo in a modern and fresh perspective.
10,000 square feet of unutilized roads was transformed into 10,000 square feet for the people, and during the Garland Better Block weekend, the community enjoyed performances, yoga, music, exercise and dance classes, and art.
